Using Video in Your Squeeze Page – How to Make an Effective Lead Generating Video

A squeeze page is a landing page used by online businesses or marketers to invite visitors to sign in to access further information or products. In essence, the visitor is granted access to another webpage in exchange for his contact details, and by this process becomes an official ‘lead’.

There is an art to converting visitors to leads, and using a video on your squeeze page has statistically shown to increase conversation rates. The page design and written content will also influence your visitor’s response, but a video offers 2 additional benefits: 1. It attract and maintain the attention of your visitor (makes your website ’sticky’) and 2. It builds trust, shows your character and that you are a genuine person.

Here are some guidelines on what to say in your squeeze page video to ensure that you connect with your visitors and optimise lead generation:

1. Confirm with your visitor that he is at the right place by addressing their need or situation.

In order to do this, you must identify who is visiting your site and who you wish to target (your niche market). Tell your visitor that you know something about them, what they are looking for or how they are feeling. Use tact though, avoid blunt assumptions (after all you do not ‘know’ them). Use ‘maybe’ and ‘probably’ or a question format to encourage your visitors to identify for themselves how they relate to you and what you have to offer. For example: “Are you tired of…?”, “Do you need…”, “Do you wish you could…?”,”You are probably looking for…”.

2. Introduce your personal story.

Now your visitor is ready to hear from you and truly connect with your story. Be brief! Use one or two sentences to describe your situation, feelings or struggles before you found your solution.

3. Introduce your solution.

Your visitor now trusts you and can relate to your story, and can’t wait to hear your solution! You can now say that you found a solution, and give some general information about your product or opportunity. Keep it short, sweet and intriguing so that your visitor will want to sign in and find out more!

4. Conclude your personal story.

Where are you now? What have you achieved now that you have the solution? How has this product or opportunity changed how you live or work or play? What are the major perks or benefits (e.g. “I received all the training I needed”, “I received a great discount”, “I make a great income”, “This product is easy to use”, etc)? Remember who your niche market is, these outcomes need to resonate with what your visitor is looking for.

5. Call to action (entering their details) and what’s in it for them.

Tell your visitor what you want him to do (i.e. sign in), and what he will receive if he does. Make sure you offer something valuable to your visitor; a free report, a phone call, more information and resources, a special discount or offer, etc. Use words that give some urgency, such as ‘now’, ‘right away, ‘today’ or ‘instantly’.

Finally, here are 8 practical tips on creating the perfect video:

1. Use quality audio and video resolution, and reduce background noise.
2. Choose a setting that is consistent with what you are selling (e.g. in your home office if you have a home business, at a marina for boat services, at the beach to demonstrate your lifestyle, or just on a plain background if you want to focus on your message, etc.). Have a tidy and non-distracting background.
3. Smile! Be pleasant, welcoming and animated. Dress to convey the right image, be yourself, and make a little effort!
4. Keep it short and sweet. 1-3 minutes is ideal.
5. Edit your video to have smooth transitions between screens if applicable. Use fade in and out or other transition effects for a professional feel, but don’t overwhelm or distract the viewer with too many special effects.
6. Include a screen at the end with your contact details or website address. You can write your call to action here as well, and use a motivating soundtrack while your are displaying written text.
7. Have you video on auto-start. Your message will start instantly and your visitor will be drawn to watch your video.
8. Have your opt-in box near your video, so that it is handy after you have given your call to action.

How to Write a Powerful Video Marketing Script

Saying the right thing in a video can make all the difference between a runaway success and a complete flop. This article will provide you with a basic formula for creating a powerful video marketing script.

The first step when copywriting is crafting a compelling headline and videos are no different. Within the first 10 seconds of the video you want to tell the viewer exactly what the benefits are to watching the video to keep their interest. If you haven’t reeled them in by this stage they are likely to click away now so make sure this is a truly emotive statement.

Once you’ve caught the viewers attention it’s time to roll out your real content. You need to remember that your viewer is asking the question “What’s in it for me?”. For every single sentence that you create you need to verify that it is offering value to your viewer. Every time you find yourself mentioning a feature try to work out the associated benefits. Remembering this rule at all times you can follow this three step process to craft your offer:

The Three Step Offer Crafting Process

  • Here is what I got…
  • Here is what it will do for you…
  • Here is what to do next

Credit to Frank Kern, who originally taught me this simple yet powerful process for crafting an offer. Whatever else that you do as long as you address those three points you have a good chance of leading your prospect through the experience successfully.

It has to be mentioned that when you reach the end of the video you need to ask for the sale. Too many people are scared to tell the viewer what to do next but this step is essential. Just remember that if you are truly providing a great product you are doing your prospect a favour by sharing this information with them.

Don’t be afraid to inject a little of your personality into the mix. The saying goes that “people buy from people” and video provides you with one of the best opportunities online to make a real connection with your potential clients. When you can see and hear somebody it creates a bond that really can’t be emulated through just text alone so take advantage of that and share your personality to really resonate with your viewers.

When you are talking on camera you need to be talking to just a single person. If it helps you can literally pretend that the camera is a friend and you really want to help them with your product. It’s a completely different experience to some vanilla sales jargon and your viewers will notice the difference.

Last but not least you need to make sure you know your client and your offer inside and out before you even begin to craft your video marketing script. This internal knowledge will allow you to make your offer irresistable before you’ve even begun. When your offer is that powerful people will even be willing to forgive the odd mistake within your video, it might even make the whole thing more human so be prepared and the rest will flow!

Of course, none of this means a thing if you don’t have something to offer that really does provide one or more valuable benefits to your customers. Provide them with content that will really help and then Make your presentation rich with content, but framed in the items I’ve listed, and you are well on your way to video-marketing success.
